Starkhafn Anniversary/Spring Kingdom Equestrian Championship – April 27-29, 2012
Caid’s equestrian tournament season continues with three championship competitions in one event! Enjoy a splendiferous spring weekend of camping, fighting, arts events, food, and fun under the trees at Petrack Park in Pahrump NV.
Equestrians are invited to compete in two prestigious tourneys, as Starkhafn hosts the Kingdom’s Spring Equestrian Championship as well as its own Baronial championship.
The Kingdom Equestrian Championship will take place immediately following Court on Saturday morning. This will determine the new champion for Her Highness Kara. Those competing for the championship are asked to please read the duties of the Champion as set out elsewhere on this site. (Also remember that one of the Champion’s duties is to run the next Kingdom Championship, scheduled for Saturday morning at Great Western War.) Those who wish to ride “hors concours” — for the honor of competing rather than for the championship itself — are encouraged to participate.
On Saturday afternoon, equestrians will vie for the honor of being Starkhafn’s Baronial Equestrian Champion for the next year. Bring your best game, and you might take home the Flame caparison for your steed, and the commemorative belt buckle for yourself!
The Barony continues its search for the most well-rounded martial artist, with the second annual Quintivium. The fighter who competes in the most events – Armored Combat, Rapier, Archery, Thrown Weapons, and Equestrian – will be named the Quintivium Champion. Participation in the Baronial Equestrian Championship will count towards your Quintivium score. Complete details will be available on site.
The Baronial Champions in Rapier, Armored Combat, Archery, Thrown Weapons, Equestrian, and Boffers will be determined. In keeping with tradition, the Armored Combat Champion must slay the fearsome dragon (a painfully long list of rules and restrictions apply, developed over the Barony’s 30 years – come to the event for all the comic details).
And now that the Barony has reached the age of wisdom, a new A&S competition will be inaugurated. Here’s your chance to display your body of work and become the Barony’s first Flame Artisan!
Site: Petrack Park, 400 North Highway 160, Pahrump NV 89115.
Fees: Adult members, $15; youth aged 8-18, $7; children under age 8 are guests of the Barony. Family cap (immediate family only) is $37. There is a $5 surcharge for adults who cannot present proof of membership at the gate. If you wish to share in the Saturday night feast, there will be an additional charge of $5 per person.
If you are bringing a horse from out-of-state, please remember that you must have a current health certificate and Coggins test. Weekend stabling is available on site for $10.
The Site opens at 3pm on Friday, April 27 and closes at 5pm on Sunday, April 29. There is ample room for camping, but if you prefer, there are several hotels nearby.
The Parks Department is requesting that we provide the license numbers of vehicles that will be parked overnight two weeks prior to the event. We will have a limited number of overnight parking permits at gate on the starting day, but it would be best if the license information was already on hand. Please send your license information to the event stewards!
