Mounted Archery

September 11th, 2011

Archers use horse bows, 30 pounds or lighter in draw weight, in this challenging test of trust and communication between horse and rider. Riders have a variety of options in shooting and may drop or keep their reins as they see fit. Riders may start with ground crew assistance, being led at the walk, and then move up to all other gaits after proving their control of their mount through leg aids.
